Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Assures No Eligible Voter Will Be Excluded From Rolls
No eligible citizen will be left out of the electoral rolls and no ineligible person will be included, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi confirmed in an official statement released late on Thursday. The assurance from the election authority came amid claims of alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls and the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) electors list across the capital.
According to the Delhi CEO's office, booth-level officers (BLOs) marked electors who could not be found at their registered addresses or were reported to have shifted under the ASDD category during door-to-door verification drives.
Officials noted that booth-level officers carried out their responsibilities systematically during the verification process. “BLOs completed house-to-house visits after giving due information to BLAs and conducted meetings with them periodically,” the statement from the CEO's office said.
Addressing specific concerns over the addresses of electors deleted from the rolls not being mentioned, the election authority clarified the role of political party representatives. The CEO's office stated that booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties should have noted the addresses of ASDD electors directly from BLOs during these periodic meetings.
The CEO's office also confirmed that copies of the draft electoral roll were formally shared with recognised political parties on August 31. Both citizens and political party representatives have been invited to inspect the draft rolls at designated polling stations, directly with local booth-level officers, or at the offices of electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant EROs.
The election authority further outlined relief measures for residents who missed the original submission window, which ran from June 30 to August 17. Individuals whose names are missing from the draft roll can still seek inclusion in the voter list.
“Those missing from the draft roll may file Form 6 along with the prescribed Declaration Form for inclusion during the claims and objections period (31.08.2026 to 30.09.2026),” the CEO's office stated.
