Delhi Bus Driver, Conductor Were Told to Head to Timarpur Before Arrest, Says Manager

The bus company whose vehicle was allegedly used in the gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl in Delhi had instructed its driver and conductor to take the vehicle to Timarpur for repairs on the night of August 4, hours before learning of their arrests and the seizure of the bus.

Monu Gupta, the manager of the bus travel company, detailed the timeline and movements of the vehicle leading up to the incident. According to Gupta, the bus had initially been stationed at Himgiri in Surajpur between July 27 and August 4 to address a technical issue involving a sensor.

Gupta stated that the repair work was completed on August 4, after which the vehicle was moved out of Himgiri at around 5:00 pm. The bus was subsequently parked a short distance away before the staff moved it again later that evening.

At around 9:00 pm on August 4, the driver and conductor took the vehicle out once more. The company management instructed both men to proceed directly towards Timarpur for further repair-related requirements.

However, the bus did not reach its planned destination. Gupta stated that the travel company was anticipating the arrival of the vehicle in Timarpur when they instead received a communication from the Delhi administration and authorities the following morning.

The authorities informed the company that the bus had been seized and that both the driver and the conductor had been placed under arrest in connection with the alleged gang-rape of the minor.

Gupta confirmed that the management had no prior knowledge of the events that transpired overnight until the official call from the authorities arrived the next morning.
