DDA to open Bhikaji Cama Place multilevel parking lot with 645 slots by mid-October

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to operationalise a new multilevel car parking facility at the Bhikaji Cama Place District Centre in New Delhi by mid-October. The project aims to address chronic parking shortages and ease traffic congestion in the busy commercial hub. The launch follows the recent opening of a similar multilevel parking lot in the nearby commercial area of Nehru Place, which has a capacity for over 660 vehicles.

The upcoming Bhikaji Cama Place facility will have the capacity to accommodate 645 vehicles. According to a DDA official, the project is designed to resolve long-standing parking issues in one of the city's busiest office and commercial districts. The complex will feature a basement, ground floor, first floor, second floor, and a terrace level to maximise the utilisation of limited space while meeting the growing demand for parking.

To improve commuter convenience, the new complex will include a range of public amenities. Visitors will have access to drinking water, a waiting room, toilet blocks, lifts, and barrier-free access for differently abled visitors.

The structure will also provide reserved parking spaces for persons with disabilities, including eight adopted parking slots. Furthermore, to support green mobility, the DDA will install dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Commuters will be able to book their parking spaces in advance and charge their electric vehicles at the facility.

The DDA's initiative at Bhikaji Cama Place is part of a wider effort to tackle parking shortages across major commercial centres in the national capital. The project comes nearly four months after the authority successfully opened the Nehru Place multilevel parking facility to the public, which has already helped manage local traffic and parking demands.
