DDA to Install Lighting at Signature View Apartments to Speed Up CBI Sampling

The Delhi Development Authority is preparing to hire temporary workers to install electrical wiring and lighting across all floors of Signature View Apartments in New Delhi, aiming to expedite the collection of structural samples by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The CBI is currently investigating alleged criminal conspiracy and corruption related to the substandard construction of the residential complex. The upcoming electrical installations will cover all 12 blocks, which comprise a total of 336 apartments, to facilitate testing on every floor.
According to officials, the agency has already gathered the majority of the required samples from the site. These collected materials are being sent directly to Delhi Technological University, where experts will analyze and assess the quality of the building materials used during the original construction.
A DDA official stated that approximately 340 additional samples still need to be taken from the buildings to specifically inspect the quality of the reinforcement. Once testing is complete and the required administrative approvals are secured, the authority expects the demolition of the complex and removal of debris to take between four and five months before redevelopment work can officially begin.
To enable the investigation team to access all areas safely, the DDA issued a tender to bring in workers for comprehensive electrical work. According to the tender specifications, workers will be tasked with supplying electricity to each block by manually routing cables through staircases. Accessories and wiring will be connected from the pump house or meter room up to the top floors of all 12 blocks, covering all designated sample collection spots under the supervision of the engineer in charge.
