DDA Releases FAQs on Master Plan for Delhi-2047 to Boost Public Participation
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Sunday, August 30, 2026, published a comprehensive set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on its website to make the Master Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047) easier for citizens and stakeholders to understand and enable their active participation in the city's development.
The directions to make the MPD-2047 more accessible to the public came from Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who also serves as Chairperson of the DDA.
According to a statement released by the DDA, the initiative reflects its commitment to making the implementation of the Master Plan a participatory and inclusive process, with greater awareness, dialogue, and collective stakeholder engagement contributing towards building a more sustainable, connected, inclusive, and future-ready Delhi.
The DDA stated that the FAQs provide citizens and stakeholders with simple, easily accessible information on the various provisions of the Plan. They cover a wide spectrum of subjects, including general provisions, Development Control Norms, redevelopment, heritage and public spaces, the Land Pooling Policy, Transit Oriented Development (TOD), High Density Corridors (HDC), Low Density Areas (LDA), and In-situ Slum Rehabilitation (ISR).
The resource also addresses several practical aspects of MPD-2047, such as land use and permissible activities, Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and plot requirements, parking regulations, Transferable Development Rights (TDR), eligibility and development models under Land Pooling, and eligibility, development norms, and approval processes under TOD and other policies. The DDA noted that the material is intended to help citizens, landowners, professionals, developers, residents' groups, and other stakeholders better understand the provisions and opportunities envisaged under the Master Plan.
In addition to the FAQs, the DDA has introduced the "MPD-2047 (Feedback)" facility through its Citizen Services platform. This enables citizens and stakeholders to directly share their suggestions and feedback related to the Master Plan, supporting ongoing dialogue and a more participatory approach.
These digital initiatives run parallel to the DDA's ongoing three-month stakeholder engagement programme, under which 20 meetings are scheduled on various aspects of MPD-2047. The engagement will bring together elected representatives, government agencies and service providers, industry bodies, architects and planners, residents' and group housing representatives, farmers, landowners, and other concerned stakeholders.
