Congress MPs Demand Parliament Debates On NEET And Ram Temple Donation Row
On Monday, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi accused the Central government of avoiding discussions on key national issues, including the NEET exam controversy and the alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple, during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament in New Delhi. The allegations have intensified political tension in the Lok Sabha, where opposition leaders are demanding immediate debates on these matters.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Gogoi stated that the Government is not ready for a discussion on any of the basic issues facing the nation. He pointed out that for several days, the government had failed to clarify whether the alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donation controversy or the NEET exam irregularities would be raised in the House.
According to Gogoi, the entire country is aware that these two matters represent the core issues of the current Monsoon Session. However, he claimed that the Central government has no agenda or business to address them, leaving these critical subjects without any official parliamentary discussion.
The remarks from Gogoi came as the Congress party intensified its demands for accountability on multiple fronts. The opposition is seeking answers regarding alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and financial irregularities involving donations to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Earlier in the day, the opposition's demands culminated in formal action in the Lok Sabha. Congress MP KC Venugopal submitted an Adjournment Motion Notice, seeking the immediate suspension of the day's scheduled proceedings. Venugopal's notice specifically requested that the House halt its regular business to discuss the alleged embezzlement of donations linked to the Ram Temple trust.
Despite these active demands and the submission of the motion notice by Venugopal, the Central government has not yet clarified its position on whether it will allow these debates to take place during the remainder of the Monsoon Session.
