Congress Councillor Attacked in Northeast Delhi, Flees into MCD Chairman Office

A Congress councillor fled into the office of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) zone chairman in northeast Delhi on Wednesday afternoon after being attacked by a group of people, leading to a scuffle inside the premises that resulted in damaged property.

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm at the office of MCD zone chairman and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pankaj Luthra. The councillor involved was identified as Congress leader Hazi Zarif, who reportedly rushed into the room while being pursued by a crowd.

According to Luthra, two individuals were engaged in a physical altercation before Zarif ran toward his office seeking refuge. Luthra stated that officials inside intervened to break up the confrontation and clarified that no BJP councillor or party member was involved in the clash.

A purported video from the scene captured the chaos inside the chairman's office. The footage showed a chair being thrown at an individual while two police personnel appeared to step in to protect him. The video also documented damage to property inside Luthra's room as a large group gathered inside during the commotion.

Zarif did not offer an official comment on the incident. However, an associate of the Congress councillor alleged that the attack on Zarif was carried out by members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
