Congress Alleges Corruption In Rs 12,000 Crore Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Project

The Congress party on Thursday alleged rampant corruption and embezzlement of funds in the construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway in Delhi, pointing to massive potholes that have appeared on the route within just two months of its opening.
The Rs 12,000 crore infrastructure project was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, 2026. However, the opposition party claimed that the rapid deterioration of the expressway's surface points directly to financial misconduct during its construction phase.
In a public statement released on the social media platform X, the Congress party highlighted the state of the newly built highway. The party noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway on April 14, 2026, but just two months later, massive potholes appeared on the road. According to the party, this serves as clear evidence that rampant corruption and embezzlement of funds took place during construction.
The Congress argued that the issues plaguing the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway are part of a broader, nationwide trend of failing public works. According to the party, public infrastructure projects across India are currently suffering from severe deterioration and collapse under the current administration.
The opposition statement claimed that this pattern of decay is visible in various types of public assets throughout the country. The party specifically cited failing bridges, roads, highways, water tanks, railway stations, and airport roofs as examples of collapsing infrastructure.
In its sharp critique of the Union government, the Congress alleged that the administration's handling of these projects is causing widespread damage to public assets. The party concluded its statement by declaring that the Modi government is fatal for the country and its people.
No official response has been released by the government regarding the specific allegations of corruption or the road conditions on the expressway.
