Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited a Kanwar camp in Dilshad Garden in east Delhi on Saturday, August 8, 2026, to inspect arrangements for pilgrims and assure devotees that the government has ensured Kanwariyas will not face any difficulties. The camp, located in east Delhi close to the border with Uttar Pradesh, serves devotees traveling through the capital during the month of Sawan.

During her visit to the Dilshad Garden camp, the Chief Minister welcomed devotees by showering flower petals on them. She interacted directly with the pilgrims to inquire about their journey and the condition of the camp arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Gupta noted that during the month of Sawan, thousands of Shiv devotees travel on foot carrying holy water from the Ganges in Haridwar to reach their destinations and perform jalabhishekam of Lord Shiva. She emphasized that every Kanwariya is revered and respected as an embodiment of Lord Bholenath, and noted that a large number of women are participating in the Kanwar Yatra this year.

Ms. Gupta assured that the Delhi Government is striving to ensure that no devotee or camp encounters any difficulty. To support the pilgrimage, she stated that the government is extending financial assistance, sanitation services, healthcare, traffic management, mobile toilets, and other essential facilities to Kanwar Seva committees.

The Chief Minister added that the ongoing efforts across various locations in Delhi to serve and welcome Shiv devotees reflect a beautiful example of community service and religious devotion.
