CM Rekha Gupta Launches STEM Programme at Shalimar Bagh Govt Girls School

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a comprehensive STEM education and school transformation programme at the Shalimar Bagh Village Govt Girls’ Senior Secondary School in Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, on Thursday. The initiative aims to upgrade educational infrastructure and establish what the Chief Minister described as a benchmark for future-ready learning.

The launch event took place on Thursday at the school premises in the Shalimar Bagh locality. Under this new programme, the school has been equipped with dedicated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) laboratories as well as computer laboratories. The classrooms have also been upgraded into smart classrooms to facilitate modern learning.

In addition to the academic upgrades, the transformation programme addresses student health and sanitation. The school's facilities have been upgraded to include an artificial intelligence (AI) enabled toilet block designed specifically for the female students.

The initiative also focuses on capacity building for the teaching staff. Teachers at the Shalimar Bagh school will receive training in digital and interactive teaching methods to help them effectively utilise the new smart classroom technologies.

For the students, the programme introduces a series of health and safety awareness sessions. These sessions are designed to cover essential topics, including menstrual hygiene, nutrition, cyber safety, financial literacy, and reproductive health.

The entire school transformation initiative was developed in collaboration with Honeywell Technologies. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Ladli Foundation Trust.

During her address at the launch ceremony on Thursday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised the newly upgraded facilities and highlighted the importance of collaboration.

"With smart classrooms, a computer lab, a STEM lab and an AI-enabled toilet block for our daughters, this school is now setting a benchmark for future-ready learning," Gupta said. She added that a state can truly progress only when the government and society work together.
