CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates DPCC Pollution Control Centre in East Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s Integrated Command and Control Centre at its office in East Delhi to strengthen the city's monitoring and response to air pollution.

The newly opened facility will facilitate real-time monitoring across diverse pollution sources using artificial intelligence-based analysis. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the centre will integrate public complaints and field inspection data while coordinating efforts across relevant government departments.

The Chief Minister's Office stated that the primary objective of the setup is to translate pollution data into rapid field action and measurable outcomes. Ms. Gupta noted that the government's strategy focuses on combining technology, analytical data, and on-ground enforcement rather than relying solely on monitoring.

Under the new system, pollution hotspots, environmental violations, and emission sources will be identified swiftly, allowing officials to direct enforcement teams to affected sites. Ms. Gupta said the operations will strictly follow a four-step framework: "Detect, Analyse, Act, Verify," which covers pinpointing the issue, studying it, taking swift action, and verifying the end result.

Addressing the broader measures being implemented across the capital, Ms. Gupta stated that simultaneous work is underway to control major pollution sources. These ongoing efforts include mechanical road sweeping, dust control, deployment of smog guns and mist sprays, regular monitoring of construction sites, expansion of green cover, and the transition toward clean transport and electric mobility.
