Class 9 Student Stabbed to Death in Nangloi Over School Friendship, 3 Juveniles Held
A 15-year-old Class 9 student was stabbed to death in broad daylight in west Delhi's Nangloi area on Thursday afternoon, allegedly by three juveniles following a dispute over his friendship with a female classmate, police said on Friday.
The incident took place while the boy was walking home from school accompanied by the girl and some of his friends. According to police, a group of three boys initially intercepted them on the road and began questioning the girl about her friendship with the victim. Following a brief altercation between the two groups, the victim and his companions resumed their journey home.
However, the confrontation escalated shortly afterward. Around 15 to 20 minutes later, the same three boys intercepted the group a second time and restarted the argument regarding the teenager's friendship with the girl, who was present throughout both confrontations, a police officer said.
During this second encounter, one of the juveniles produced a knife and allegedly stabbed the 15-year-old student in the right thigh. The assailant and his two associates then fled the scene immediately after the attack.
A Police Control Room call reporting the admission of a boy with a stab injury was received at the Nangloi police station from Sonia Hospital at around 1:50 pm on Thursday. A police team was dispatched to the medical facility, where officers observed that the victim had sustained a stab wound measuring approximately 3 by 1.5 inches.
The injured student succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A police officer confirmed that the boy died as a result of excessive blood loss caused by the deep wound to his thigh.
Delhi Police said all three juveniles involved in the fatal assault were apprehended within hours of the incident. A criminal case under relevant legal provisions, including murder, has been registered at the Nangloi police station. The victim's body was handed over to his family on Friday following a post-mortem examination, while further investigation remains underway to establish the exact sequence of events.
