Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Inaugurates 35th Mango Festival In Janakpuri

The aroma of ripe, golden yellow mangoes filled the air at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri, as the 35th edition of Delhi Tourism’s Aam Mahotsav officially commenced on July 3. The three-day festival celebrates summer traditions and childhood memories by bringing together a diverse selection of mangoes from multiple states under one roof, allowing visiting families to enjoy and purchase seasonal mangoes and mango-based products.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the event alongside Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood. During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the cultural significance of the fruit, describing mangoes as an inseparable part of childhood memories and summer traditions.
"Har woh cheez jisse aapke jeevan mein rang bharta hai woh aaj yahan hai," Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said during her address, emphasizing the joy and color the festival brings to the lives of Delhi residents.
A central highlight of the three-day festival is the mango mandi. This specialized market features mangoes sourced from various regions across India, including Malihabad, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee, Haridwar, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. By bringing these suppliers together under one roof, the festival offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore and purchase up to 400 different varieties of the seasonal fruit.
The event saw active participation from local families who gathered to celebrate the mango season. Visitors at the venue were observed taking photographs with a dancing mango character and posing alongside the vibrant decorative displays set up throughout Dilli Haat.
In addition to the fresh fruit displays, the festival features an array of mango-themed culinary items. Attendees sampled a wide range of products, including sweet mango softies, tangy jams, pickles, and mango iced tea, which were served alongside various seasonal snacks.
Organized by Delhi Tourism, the Aam Mahotsav continues to serve as a key summer attraction for Delhi residents looking to experience the diverse flavors of India's favorite summer fruit in a single location.
