Bus in Noida Sector 63 Gang-Rape Case Had 12 Challans in 3 Months
A private sleeper bus whose driver and conductor allegedly gang-raped a 16-year-old student travelling from Greater Noida to Noida Sector 63 had accumulated 12 traffic violation challans within three months of entering service, police revealed on Monday.
The alleged assault took place on August 4, when the teenager boarded the bus, bearing registration number UP 83 ET 3789, to travel to Noida Sector 63. Following the crime inside the vehicle, the girl was allegedly transported and abandoned near Kashmere Gate in Delhi.
The victim later approached law enforcement authorities and lodged a formal complaint at the Kashmere Gate police station in Delhi. Following the complaint, the private sleeper bus was seized by police.
Investigators arrested the two accused crew members, identified by police as 39-year-old driver Kuldeep and 26-year-old conductor Sandeep. Both men are residents of Kanpur.
An examination of the impounded vehicle's documentation revealed a persistent pattern of transport infractions. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said a preliminary probe into the bus records showed repeated violations of traffic regulations.
According to police, the bus was registered in Firozabad on April 28 this year and was penalized 12 times over the subsequent three months through July. Nine of those violations were logged on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district, with the majority of the challans issued for overspeeding.
