Burari Steel Businessman Alleges Rs 1.5 Crore Fraud By Account Manager

The Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) after a steel businessman in Burari, New Delhi, alleged that his account manager fraudulently siphoned off nearly Rs 1.5 crore from his personal and firm bank accounts. The alleged fraud was discovered last month after the manager failed to execute a transaction and subsequently went missing.

According to the complaint, the suspect had been employed as the firm's account manager for over five years. During this tenure, the manager was responsible for handling the steel firm's banking operations, accounts, and financial transactions, which gave him access to multiple personal and business bank accounts belonging to the proprietor.

The incident came to light last month when the businessman instructed the manager to transfer Rs 1.1 crore from two of his bank accounts. While transfers of Rs 50 lakh and Rs 20 lakh were successfully carried out, the remaining Rs 40 lakh was not transferred.

When asked about the pending transfer, the manager allegedly made repeated excuses to the businessman. He eventually took signed cheques from the office on the pretext of visiting the bank to complete the transaction. However, the manager did not reach the bank, failed to return to work, and went missing.

Suspicious of the delay, the businessman visited the bank himself to complete the pending Rs 40 lakh transaction. Upon arrival, he discovered that the accounts did not contain the expected financial balance.

A subsequent detailed scrutiny of the bank records allegedly revealed that a total of approximately Rs 1.5 crore had been fraudulently siphoned off over time. The unauthorized withdrawals affected multiple bank accounts linked directly to the steel business and the proprietor's personal accounts.

The Delhi Police registered the FIR based on the steel businessman's complaint. The police have launched an investigation into the alleged financial fraud and the unauthorized transactions conducted by the manager.
