BMW Kills 48-Year-Old Woman in Mehram Nagar, Local Protests Block Road

A 48-year-old domestic help was killed after being hit by a speeding BMW while crossing a road at a zebra crossing in Delhi's Mehram Nagar on Tuesday afternoon. The fatal crash triggered protests by local residents and villagers, who gathered at the spot and blocked the road near the airport's T-3 terminal, leading to traffic disruptions in the area.

The deceased was identified by the police as Jaiwanti, a resident of East Mehram Nagar. The incident took place around noon when Jaiwanti was crossing the road to return home for lunch. Police stated that the impact of the collision was severe, and she died on the spot.

Following the crash, a PCR call was received regarding a car hitting a woman. A police team reached the spot and found that Jaiwanti had been shifted to DDU Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

Police identified the driver of the BMW as 38-year-old Deepak, a resident of Pratap Nagar in Mandoli. According to police officials, Deepak had been working as a driver for the past six months and was returning alone from the airport when the accident occurred.

"We have apprehended the driver and further investigation is in progress," a police official said. Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered and legal action has been initiated.

The accident triggered immediate protests by local residents, who gathered at the spot and blocked the road near the T-3 terminal, disrupting traffic movement in the locality.
