BJP MP Nishikant Dubey claims CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke will contest on Bhim Army ticket
On Tuesday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey claimed that Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke will eventually enter electoral politics and contest future elections on a Bhim Army ticket, following the group's protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over the NEET paper leak.
Dubey made the statement in the Parliament House complex, drawing historical parallels to argue that mass protest movements naturally transition into electoral politics. He cited the JP movement, which produced leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Anna Hazare's movement, which led to the rise of Arvind Kejriwal.
The MP's comments followed a massive "Chalo Sansad" march on Monday, where thousands of protesters demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Led by Dipke, the CJP began its protest against alleged irregularities in the country's examination system at Jantar Mantar on June 20. The demonstration gained further momentum after activist Sonam Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28.
Dubey claimed that supporters of the Bhim Army were among those raising slogans around Dipke. He added that those protesting also included individuals who opposed the CAA and were associated with the long protest in Okhla, asserting that their agenda is clear.
Despite his claims of political motives, the MP maintained that the protesting youth still consider Prime Minister Narendra Modi their leader. He stated that the youth associated with the movement have repeatedly expressed faith in the prime minister to ensure transparency and hand out the strictest punishment to those responsible for the paper leaks.
Dubey also noted that Prime Minister Modi addressed issues concerning the youth during the NDA parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday.
Responding to demands from Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for the prime minister to apologise to students for alleged police brutality during the CJP protest, Dubey said the Congress party should instead apologise for historical incidents, including the 1975 Emergency.
