ACB Arrests Former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain in Jal Board Corruption Case

The Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has arrested former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain and five others in connection with an alleged 2024 corruption case linked to the Delhi Jal Board, triggering a sharp political confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi.

AAP alleged on Tuesday that Jain was arrested at the behest of the BJP in what it termed another fake case. The BJP dismissed the allegations, stating that the ACB had established the money trail of the alleged embezzlement before making the arrests of Jain and the other accused.

Jain currently serves as the co-in-charge of AAP in Punjab, a state likely heading to assembly polls early next year. He was previously arrested in 2022 in connection with a money laundering case.

Reacting to the arrest, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal criticized the move in a post on X, alleging political vendetta and stating that the party and the public stand firmly with Jain. Kejriwal maintained that the current charges, like the previous ones, are fabricated and would be proven false.
