83 Detained as Police Raid Fraudulent Call Centre in Uttam Nagar

Rajasthan Police, with assistance from Delhi Police, detained 83 people, including 43 women, following a raid on a call centre operating out of a residential building in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on Saturday. The operation was conducted in connection with a cyber fraud case registered in Rajasthan.

The investigation originated after a customer in Deeg, Rajasthan, was allegedly offered a credit card by an individual claiming to represent a private bank. When asked for proof of identity, the suspect sent a bank visiting card over messages. The customer verified the details through an acquaintance employed at the bank, who confirmed that the visiting card was fake.

Following the discovery, the branch manager of the bank lodged a formal complaint, leading to an FIR at the Cyber Police Station in Deeg on August 28.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh stated that during the course of the investigation, Rajasthan Police initially arrested an accused individual from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Information gathered during that arrest allowed investigators to trace the suspected call centre operations directly to the premises in Uttam Nagar.
