70 mm Rain Inundates Gurugram Roads, Halts Traffic at Rajiv Chowk and IFFCO Chowk

Heavy rainfall of 70 mm inundated key intersections across Gurugram on Monday, August 24, 2026, triggering severe waterlogging and extensive traffic snarls in areas including Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, and Narsinghpur.

According to the district administration, the city recorded 70 mm of rainfall by 1:30 p.m. The intense downpour overwhelmed roads and brought vehicular movement to a standstill across both new and old parts of the city.

Commuters faced intense gridlock, with vehicles stuck in accumulated water around Rajiv Chowk. On Sohna Road, school buses and ambulances were trapped in the waterlogging. In several areas, parents carrying children on their shoulders were seen wading through flooded roads to reach school buses.

Multiple key transit stretches across the city were heavily affected by the water accumulation. The affected locations included Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road, Basai Road, and several neighborhoods across old Gurugram. The Naharpur underpass was also submerged under rainwater, further obstructing traffic.

The downpour was part of a widespread weather system that brought heavy showers across the National Capital Region, where Gurugram witnessed some of the worst road disruptions of the day.
