5 Cops Injured in Stone Pelting During MCD Demolition Near Faiz-e-Elahi Mosque

Five police personnel were injured in central Delhi early on Wednesday after a crowd pelted stones during a Municipal Corporation of Delhi anti-encroachment demolition drive near the Faiz-e-Elahi mosque in the Turkman Gate area. The civic body initiated the demolition action following a High Court order directing the removal of structures at the location.

The anti-encroachment drive turned violent when locals and miscreants gathered near the mosque and began throwing stones at police personnel who were deployed to assist the municipal team. Five officers sustained injuries during the attack before security forces were able to bring the situation under control.

Following the clashes, Delhi Police registered a First Information Report against unknown persons. Security officials initially detained around 10 individuals for questioning in connection with the violent resistance as authorities launched a probe into the incident.

As the investigation into the Turkman Gate stone-pelting case progressed, police held two more suspects, bringing the total number of arrests to 18. Police officials have also summoned online influencers as part of their ongoing inquiry into the matter.

Delhi Police officials stated that efforts are continuing to identify all miscreants involved in the stone-pelting. Authorities confirmed that strict legal action will be initiated against everyone responsible for assaulting police personnel and obstructing officials carrying out court orders.
