47.6 Lakh Delhi Voters Excluded from Draft Electoral Roll

Nearly 47.6 lakh registered voters in New Delhi are unlikely to find their names in the draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll published by the Election Commission, after roughly one-third of the capital's 1.4 crore electors could not submit enumeration forms during a verification drive.

According to election officials, many voters were not found at their registered addresses during the verification exercise, while others had relocated within Delhi or moved out of the city entirely.

The draft roll is set to include roughly 97.5 lakh electors whose enumeration forms were submitted, verified, and digitised during a door-to-door exercise conducted between June 30 and August 17. Election Commission figures indicate that 67.2 percent of Delhi's 1,45,10,299 registered voters were successfully verified.

The remaining 47.6 lakh voters were marked as "uncollectable" and categorised under the ASDDO classification, which covers "Absent," "Shifted," "Dead," "Duplicate," and "Others."

Voters whose names do not appear on the draft roll will have an opportunity to submit claims and objections between August 31 and September 30. Officials will review these submissions, and booth-level officers (BLOs) will carry out field visits to verify details.

Electors whose details are confirmed and found in order during the review process will be incorporated into the final SIR electoral roll, which is scheduled for publication on November 4.
