4.75 Million Voters to Be Excluded from Delhi Draft Electoral Roll on August 31
Around 4.75 million voters in Delhi are set to be excluded from the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on August 31 under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) exercise, an official announced on Saturday. In contrast, approximately 9.75 million electors will be included in the draft list.
The draft roll encompasses electors whose enumeration forms were collected and digitised during the door-to-door verification drive that concluded on August 17. According to data released by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, forms for roughly 67.21% of the capital's 14,510,299 total electors have been digitised so far.
The remaining 4.75 million individuals have been categorised as “uncollectable” under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others (ASDDO) classifications and will consequently not appear in the draft roll.
Election officials stated that the exclusion of names at the draft stage is not permanent. Excluded electors will have the opportunity to submit claims and objections seeking their inclusion in the electoral register between August 31 and September 30.
In addition, the release of the draft roll on August 31 will mark the beginning of a scrutiny process for electors whose submitted information could not be linked to the 2002 intensive revision roll, as well as those whose enumeration forms contain anomalies. Officials indicated that nearly 34% of electors who submitted enumeration forms are likely to receive notices because their details could not be mapped.
Claims and objections submitted by electors left off the draft rolls will be reviewed before the notice and disposal phase officially concludes on October 29. Following the completion of this process, the final electoral roll for Delhi is scheduled to be published on November 4.
