28-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Swaroop Nagar, Family Alleges Dowry Murder

A 28-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in north Delhi's Swaroop Nagar on Friday, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws following persistent dowry harassment. Following the incident, the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) initiated an inquiry into the case.

The deceased woman, identified as Seema, had been married to her husband for five years. Her husband works as a vegetable vendor, and the couple resided together in Swaroop Nagar.

According to police, Seema was discovered hanging inside her room on Friday. Her family, who live in Agra, said they were informed that she had died by suicide. The family rushed from Agra to Delhi, but by the time they arrived, her body had already been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Allegations of ongoing financial demands were raised by Seema's sister-in-law, Shivani. She alleged that Seema's husband frequently pressured her to bring money from her parental home. Shivani stated that the in-laws had recently purchased a car worth around Rs 12 lakh, but despite this, they continued to demand money from Seema's family.

Police said the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination is completed. The SDM inquiry into the incident remains ongoing.
