28-Year-Old Sanitation Worker Fatally Stabbed in East Delhi's Kalyanpuri

A 28-year-old sanitation worker was stabbed to death while on duty in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri on Sunday morning, with police suspecting the victim was killed in a case of mistaken identity.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar, who worked through a contractor as a helper on a Municipal Corporation tipper truck. The incident occurred around 7.30 am while Anil and the truck driver, Gulshan, were collecting garbage in the 20 Block area of Kalyanpuri.

According to the police, an assailant approached Anil with a large knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds. Passersby rushed the injured worker to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The entire attack was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, which showed the accused repeatedly stabbing Anil while bystanders looked on. Police have identified the suspect using the surveillance footage and launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the murder was driven by the assailant's suspicion that the tipper truck driver, Gulshan, was in contact with his wife. Because Anil and Gulshan shared a close physical resemblance, police suspect that the attacker mistook Anil for the driver and fatally assaulted him.
