28-Year-Old Bartender Killed in Hit-and-Run in Dwarka Sector 4

A 28-year-old bartender was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning after his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck near Om Satyam Apartments in Dwarka’s Sector 4. Investigators suspect that the pickup truck was being driven on the wrong side of the road at the time of the collision in southwest Delhi.

The deceased was identified by police as Rohit, a resident of Najafgarh who worked as a bartender at private parties.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash after a Police Control Room (PCR) call was made around 3:25 am on Sunday. When police officers reached the accident site near Om Satyam Apartments, they discovered Rohit's Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle lodged directly under the front left wheel of a Mahindra Bolero CNG pickup truck.

Based on the physical position of the two vehicles and the layout of the accident scene, investigating officers suspect that the pickup truck had entered the road from the wrong direction before hitting the motorcycle.

Rohit was taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead on arrival.

Police have registered a formal case in connection with the fatal accident under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 281, which pertains to rash driving or riding on a public way, and 106(1), which relates to causing death by negligence.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene following the crash and has not yet been traced. During the initial probe, police questioned the registered owner of the Mahindra Bolero vehicle, identified as Sunny Goel.

Goel informed investigators that the vehicle was being driven by Mangal Singh. According to the police, Singh is originally a native of Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh and currently resides in Mitraon village in Najafgarh. Police efforts to locate and apprehend Singh are ongoing.
