22-Year-Old Man Stabbed to Death in Kalyanpuri Altercation, Two Apprehended

A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death and two of his relatives were injured during an altercation in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri early Thursday. Police have apprehended two people in connection with the fatal stabbing.

The victim, identified as Jay Singh, was a resident of Kalyanpuri. According to police, the violence took place on the road between 11 and 15 Blocks at around 12:46 am.

After being alerted, a police team arrived at the scene and learned that Singh had been rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. His two injured relatives were also taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

A police inquiry revealed that the dispute originated during an ongoing function. According to a senior police officer, a group of transgender people had arrived at the gathering, leading to an argument with the family. The argument quickly escalated into a scuffle during which a trans person was slapped, causing the confrontation to turn violent.

A relative of Singh told reporters that an argument had broken out between two groups and Singh was called to step in and resolve the conflict. She added that the 22-year-old is survived by his wife and a 10-day-old child.

Police have taken two individuals into custody as investigations into the incident continue.
