17 Delhi Police and 21 CBI Personnel Awarded Medals on Independence Day Eve

On the eve of Independence Day, 17 Delhi Police officers and 21 Central Bureau of Investigation personnel in New Delhi were awarded police medals in recognition of their distinguished and meritorious service.

The awards included the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, given for a special distinguished record in service, and the Medal for Meritorious Service, conferred for valuable service marked by resource and devotion to duty.

In the Delhi Police, two personnel were conferred the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. The recipients were Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta and Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar. Gupta, who previously received the Medal for Meritorious Service in 2018, has held several key field and specialised assignments and currently oversees traffic arrangements for major public events in the national capital.

A total of 15 Delhi Police officers were awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service. Among the recipients were Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Surender Kumar and Joint Commissioner of Police (Economic Offences Wing) Nupur Prasad. Surender Kumar has contributed to multiple policing and technology initiatives, including the e-beat book project, the extradition of gangsters, cyber-awareness campaigns, and the implementation of new criminal laws. He has also previously served as the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer in Delhi.

From the Central Bureau of Investigation, six personnel received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. The awardees included Assistant Inspector General of Police Shobha Dutta, Additional Superintendents of Police Manoj Banerjee and Ginni Rana, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Samal, and Assistant Sub-Inspectors Ramesh Chand and Madan Lal Dhiman.
