15-Year-Old Killed, Twin Injured After Ceiling Plaster Collapses in Delhi's Welcome

A 15-year-old boy was killed and his twin brother suffered injuries after a portion of cement plaster collapsed from the ceiling of their rented room while they were asleep in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area early Sunday morning.

The incident took place at around 5:00 AM inside a second-floor room where the twin brothers resided. Following the collapse, both teenagers were admitted to a private hospital located in the Anand Vihar area of Shahdara district. One of the brothers succumbed to his injuries, while the surviving twin is currently undergoing treatment at the facility and has been declared out of danger by medical staff.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Rahul Alwal stated that the Welcome police station was informed of the fatality around 7:00 AM via a call from the Anand Vihar police station. A police team was immediately dispatched to look into the matter.

According to DCP Alwal, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Manoj from the Anand Vihar police station reported that the brothers lived in the rented accommodation on the building's second floor when the cement plaster detached from the ceiling, causing their injuries. Following the death of the minor, his body was shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for post-mortem proceedings.

During the initial inquiry, police recovered five cartridges of .315 bore from the possession of the deceased teenager.

Forensic teams subsequently inspected the scene of the collapse in Welcome and gathered evidence from the room. A First Information Report (FIR) has officially been registered at the Welcome police station.

DCP Alwal confirmed that further investigation into the matter is in progress. Police stated they are probing what led to the ceiling plaster collapsing, including whether the incident was related to rain, while also investigating why the dead teenager was carrying illegal ammunition.
